Port Edgar

This is a Marina at Queensferry. It is very much a working port with industrial units along the shore.
This is a view through an old fence to the Forth Rail Bridge in the distance and the road bridge in front.

Haar

Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day, so I thought I would go out last night and hopefully get some sunset photos. So Emily and I went up Blackford Hill, only to be greated by this famous Scottish haar that rolled in ever so suddenly. It was very atmospheric though!

Cramond Kirk

I went for a walk at Cramond today. There are lots of interesting things to look at-the boats in the harbour, the old buildings, interesting nooks and crannies, Roman ruins, and This-Cramond Kirk:

Waterfall

I was down at the Water of leith at Dean Village today for a short time-Until my camera batteries ran out.
Note to self: Always carry a set of spare batteries!!
Anyway, I was playing around with shutter speed, trying to capture that feeling of movement in the water.
This was my most successful I think:

Here are some others-not as successful.

Pheasant

This pheasant was strutting around at Dawyck-but it was some distance away, and so I had to zoom in. Unfortunately it is is a bit out of focus.

Dawyck

We were at Dawyck Botanic Garden again today. I was mucking around with the camera settings on my camera-mostly unsuccessfully-but I have learned some things, so that's the main thing, I guess. Today I was mainly playing around with meter mode-trying to learn about how this effects photos. I took some really BAD photos today. My focus is all over the place at the moment-don't know what's going on. Today's photo is not a good photo, but I chose it because I think the tree is particularly interesting. It is called Abies Delavayi and it has the most amazing and beautiful dark blue pine cones, and wonderful acidic green new foliage. Both look beautiful against the darker green, older foliage.

Lamp posts

I have been very remiss with posting photos for the last two days so I though I would post three photo to make up for it. Edinburgh is full of interesting street lights. Here are three, taken in and around Rutland Square.

Castle View

I went out this afternoon and took some photos at the West End of the city.
This view of the castle was taken standing on the footbridge over the West Approach Rd.
I like the mixture of architecture-modern, Victorian and medieval, all in the one scene.

Portobello

My work took me to this area of Edinburgh today-an area I rarely get to. I usually like my photos without people, but somehow I like this one with this woman crossing the end of the road.
