House

There are some lovely houses in my neighbourhood,
and this is one of them. It is a lovely Edwardian house,
and I adore the box bay window. This house sits in a double plot,
and if I had the money I would buy this house-not that it's for sale!

Mother's day

It was mother's day here in Britain today.
I'm not big on presents as a rule. if I want something I'll buy it,
and if I don't buy it I certainly don't want others to buy it for me!
I know I'm getting to be a grumpy old woman,
but if I never got another present in my life, that's ok with me.
Having said all that I do enjoy a simple gesture of appreciation,
like these cookies and truffles Emily bought from her and Jack,
and the daffodils Emily picked from the garden.
And look at that card-she knows me well I think!

Garden

It was a lovely day today, so I mangaged to get out into the garden,
and did lots of weeding and tidying up of deadwood, and cutting back shrubs.
I spotted this little bug sitting on the lid of the compost bin:

And the blossom is starting too:

Spring no more..

After three days of glorious sunshine, this is what we woke up to today:

We should be able to see Edinburgh Castle from this viewpoint,
but as you can see the mist obscured the view this morning!

Details

On my walk today I was taken by these cat statues on the lintel
above the door of this house.
There is another house in Colinton with a cat like these on its chimney.
I wonder what the story behind them is? Maybe some superstition?

Spring...

Another glorious day today.
I went for a walk around the neighbourhood after work
and this front garden caught my eye.
All the heathers are out, so this was a carpet of colour.
