I love the letter boxes here in Scotland.
I love these old boxes that have been built into walls
and fences, as well as the free standing pillar boxes.
They are so full of character!

Sky
Finally, a dramatic sky!
Lately I have been feeling quite depressed by the Edinburgh sky!
That might seem strange, but in the winter we have these nothing skies-
great big flat expanses of sky devoid of colour or texture or movement, and
I really do find it affects how I feel.
But today, we had the very strnge spell of weather. It was windy, and in the space of 10 minutes it went from blue skies and bright sunshine, to thunder, lightening, black clouds, rain, hail and back to sunshine!
this photo was taken from my back step just as the hail stopped.
How much better I feel for seeing the sky in action!

Mother's day
It was mother's day here in Britain today.
I'm not big on presents as a rule. if I want something I'll buy it,
and if I don't buy it I certainly don't want others to buy it for me!
I know I'm getting to be a grumpy old woman,
but if I never got another present in my life, that's ok with me.
Having said all that I do enjoy a simple gesture of appreciation,
like these cookies and truffles Emily bought from her and Jack,
and the daffodils Emily picked from the garden.
And look at that card-she knows me well I think!
